Here’s a mini lesson on how the skin functions and what your skins layers look like… Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and definitely one of the most important. It keeps your entire body safe from infection, detects pain, pressure, heat and cold, and eliminates waste through sweat. There are three main layers to the skin. We have the epidermis (our top layer that is exposed) here is where we apply our skincare products that penetrate to deeper levels to encourage results. This is also the layer that our dead skin cells shed, and with exfoliation fall off. We have our dermis that sits below the epidermis. The dermis contains bundles of collagen and elastin fibers which gives our skin the firmness, elasticity and strength. The third layer is the hypodermis. This layer contains the main sweat glands, hair follicles, and main blood vessels.
